Sosekido

The school Sosekido (素石堂) was formed by my sensei, Unkotsu Komine (小峰雲骨) many years ago. I was 13 years old when I first met him, and it was the beginning of my long-time calligraphy path.

Neon Calligraphy “Miminashi Hoichi” at Fellini Gallery´s Opening Night

Sorry to keep you wait. Finally I’ve received the video from the Fellini Gallery’s opening night.

First of all, I like to thank to all who came to see our performance. The place was packed and perhaps those who were standing at the back couldn’t see well. Even that, we received a lot of warm and positive comments.

This performance, Mimibashi Hoichi (耳なし芳一), translated title, Earless Hoichi is based on Japanese old ghost story written by Yakumo Koizumi (小泉八雲)

We have arranged the story a little and re-created with a neon calligraphy. Dancer, Kazuma Glen Motomura is a Berlin based contemporary dancer, also called “body poet”. Kaya Kamijo is a sound and light maker. This is the second time for me to work with her and she makes the lighting system by herself. Both of them were very fun to work with.
