Now our calligraphy class has a name, “Soseki-Dou”. This was actually the name of my class but as my maestro has been sick and no longer carries on so I’ve inherited it. Also now we are the member of a calligraphy association in Japan, “Ryukyo Shodou Kai” (龍峡書道会） where gives the student a proper certificate.

The meaning of Soseki Dou: 素(so) means natural/essence/fundamental/ the principal material, 石(seki) means stone and 堂 (dou) is a room. According to my maestro, the meaning of Soseki is we are all unrefined stones and they are the base of everything, all depends how to refine.

Ahora nuestra clases de caligrafía tiene nombre, “Soseki-Dou”. Este era el nombre de mi clase en Japón, pero mi maestro enfermó y lleva un tiempo sin dar las clases y, ahora yo heredé sus enseñanzas y su camino . Somos miembros de una Asociación de Caligrafía en Japón, “Ryukyo Shodou Kai” (龍峡書道会）donde se dan los certificados a los alumnos de mis clases.

El significado de Soseki Dou:  素(so) – natural/esencia/fundamental/el material principal, 石(seki)- piedra y 堂 (dou)- habitación. Según mi maestro, el significado de Soseki es, nosotros todos somos piedras sin refinar y, son la base de todas las cosas, que todo depende cómo perfeccionarla.
