Sosekido

The school Sosekido (素石堂) was formed by my sensei, Unkotsu Komine (小峰雲骨) many years ago. I was 13 years old when I first met him, and it was the beginning of my long-time calligraphy path.

Live Performance at NION Week Festival

Today, the 1st of September, NION Week Festival was held at Holtzmarkt25. There were many stalls of food, vinyls and crafts.

I had a small performance in the afternoon. This is an edible painting mixuture made of kitchen ingredientes, which I found very useful to know. The most interesting about this mixture is, when you write, it doesn’t show much and after waiting for about 10 mins, all the letters pop out. It must be fun to play with kids.

I have written “NION festival” and ” 夏は夜 (natsu wa yoru)” from “The Pillow Book” of Makurano Soshi. She says, “the best moment of summer is the night”.

As the festival keeps going on until 4am in the morning and it’s almost the end of the summer, I thought this would be the perfect word for the performance.

I kind of liked to see the visitors walking over the letters.

I will update the video later, which I’m looking forward to seeing it myself.

Thank you NION!
