Sosekido

The school Sosekido (素石堂) was formed by my sensei, Unkotsu Komine (小峰雲骨) many years ago. I was 13 years old when I first met him, and it was the beginning of my long-time calligraphy path.

“Storytelling” Calligraphy Workshop at Atelier für Photographie in February 2019

As a part of the exhibition “Storytelling“, I had a workshop. Atmosphere was very relaxed and nice. It was a mixture of new people and people who have been in workshops before.

Everyone picked their favourite words and wrote them in ancient letter, kodaiji (古代字). Kodaiji is one of the styles used for seals in Japan nowadays but it has a unique form and look funny and friendly. Even you don’t read Japanese, you may feel familiar as they look like drawings.
